Former top 100 recruit Tyson Ford confirms decision to enter transfer portal after appearing in just one game at Notre Dame

One of the more notable events for Notre Dame so far this season has been about cornerback Jaden Mickey. In the days leading up to the Irish's win over Louisville, Mickey announced he was redshirting and then entering the transfer portal.

Notre Dame placed defensive lineman Tyson Ford on a medical scholarship over the summer, thus ending his playing career at Notre Dame. But the top-100 player from the class of 2022 is not finished at the college level for good.

It's obviously disappointing to lose a player to the transfer portal, but Marcus Freeman understands that Mickey is doing what's best for him, and he has the support of his head coach.

Notre Dame cornerback Jaden Mickey formally entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. The move was expected as head coach Marcus Freeman mentioned Mickey would redshirt the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, this season has not gone as planned for the junior as he’s played sparingly over the first four games of the year. Due to this, and surely other factors, Mickey has decided to redshirt the remainder of the year and then enter the transfer portal following the completion of his coursework within his major.

While we all knew what Notre Dame football cornerback Jaden Mickey’s intentions were to enter the transfer portal, which he did today. What we didn’t know about was what defensive Tyson Ford has been pondering.
